Let me talk about a fiction writer whose name is Wakatsuki Hikaru.
Wakatsuki mailnly write "juvenille porn", also called "erotic light novels". She can write very fast, and her works sell well in this genre.
I had liked to read her until a few years ago. Now I try to analyze myself to discover the reason why I had done so.
At first, I was not attracted by her style. To be frankly her writing ability is poor. If I sound conceited, I paraphrase "poor" into "awkward". I feel that sentences written by her don't connect smooth each other. Besides, she uses similar expressions repeatedly, so they make me bored.
In the article about Ayagami Tatsuki, I wrote "It is said that pornographic novel should be written in stereotyped expressions." I think Wakatsuki is an extreme example of that. She does over again mostly same exepressions as if she impress seals.
Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not going to defame her. Her composition is not very good, but her works have the other fascination that compensate for lack of writing ability.
What is fascination of her works? To put it bluntly, I can describe it in one simple word “hot" because they are porns, but it doesn't train up my writing skill. I try to explain it at a little more length.
I felt there were two fascinations in her works, as below.
1.Heroines are depicted as model Tsundere.
Tsundere is a Japanese slung, but it gets into English Wikipedia. So please read the article about it if you want to know what Tsundere is.
No matter what you say, Tsundere is a very popular and important factor in fiction because it increases cuteness of characters. It can make us have much fun, although it has been used repeatedly in countless works.
2.There are descriptions of heroines' smell.
Although most readers may not demand such things, but a handful of perverts crave them. Once I was one of such perverts.
Wakatsuki describes heroines' scent of sweat and body, so it perfectly suited my liking. Especially I loved her simile of love juice. She often compares the smell of love juice to ones of dairy products, for example cheese, cheesecakes, yogurt, and so on. I was very fond of those expressions because I think that using confectionary for similies can portray both liveness and loveliness of heroines.
All right, let's leave off here. I'm afraid that my idle talk will be too long.
